Simon, good points,
u raise a few issues like LUG has no funding and is run by volunteers, a few suggestions, you can have varying membership levels from Ug. Shs 500 upwards You can use sms to collect the subscriptions, reducing your operational costs LUG should in the near future transform to a Non Profit, Professional association, et al once its registered, it can act as a lobby (promoting OSS). Of course if u register it, without a good business plan, then it will follow similar initiatives that have gone under water like Uganda Computer (Ne Dagala something - cant remember) i think u left out many things, in your comments, but allow me to highlight only one. The mailing list continued to behave normally (problems with delivered mails, subscription, or posts not going thru) i made a few predictions for 2010, and am surprised the year has ended without giving me any warning, for the year 2011, i will not make any predictions. i will only prepare a list of challenges for LUG to emerge from its present state of a " paper tiger" to a real "tiger" ____________________________________________________________________________ 'if you climb up a tree, you must climb down the same tree' -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.
