Lug, its been a while since i last reviewed some useful tools, todays post might be useful to Non profits,
civicrm is a good tool for non profits in respect to campaign management. Its available as a Drupal module, joomla component and it has a stand alone version. In drupal version 6 or earlier (Drupal 7 might need a few tweaks), its a bit cumbersome, but worth every inch of sweat, in joomla u can have it up and running in 5 mins i havent tried the stand alone version yet. i ll post a full tutorial for Drupal, at some stage before the year winds down (dont quote me). as a bonus i ll also share a simple hack on how to convert your smart phone's to a wifi router (hotspot), they are several tools out there, some simple, some not so simple. and if you are using linux, this might be quite simple. a friend had a palm pre, and asked me for some help, last time i did this stuff was way back in 2000 under the tutelage of a one Mubiru, arguably one of the top hacker's i have ever come across. No bragging, this guy used to design phone data cables (no USB / serial cables back then) from scratch , right from the circuit diagram. to cut the flak,i downloaded the palm sdk, i had a java runtime already installed, and complied some byte code (available on email request) this hack works on mac and windows. In linux u ll have to ssh your palm pre, and have preware. Disclaimer: You have to read the terms and conditions of Phone service provider. This hack is for educational purposes only. happy holidays -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.
