2011        TIGA Awards 2011: Celebrating Excellence in eGovernment

The competition for the third TIGA Technology in Government Awards 2011 has
opened. The awards are organised by the United Nations Economic Commission
for Africa (UNECA) and supported by the Government of Finland. This biennial
event recognises African governments’ effective use of ICTs for public
services and raises awareness for the role of ICTs for the development
process. The deadline for entries is *February 28th*.

One of the awards – in the category on “Improved Educational Services
Through the Use of ICTs” – is organised jointly with the *eLearning Africa
Conference* <http://www.elearning-africa.com/> and *Scholarship Trust
EAST *<http://www.easttrust.org>.


The TIGA Awards are presented to African governments and institutions based
on the Continent that are engaged in initiating, developing and implementing
ICTs for public service, thereby contributing to the development of the
Information Society in Africa.

Les Prix TIGA 2011 célèbrent l’excellence en matière de eGouvernement

La compétition pour les troisièmes prix TIGA –  la Technologie au service
des Gouvernements – organisée par la Commission Economique des Nations Unies
pour l’Afrique (UNECA) et soutenue par le gouvernement de Finlande est
ouverte. Cette récompense biennale valorise l’utilisation efficace des TIC
dans les services publics par les gouvernements africains et souligne le
rôle des TIC comme facteur de développement. La date limite d’entrée dans la
compétition est le *28 février* prochain.

Un des volets de la compétition, intitulé « L’Amélioration des Services
d’Education grâce aux TIC » est organisé conjointement avec la
conférence *eLearning
Africa* <http://www.elearning-africa.com/> et le *Fond de Soutien pour
l’Education de eLearning Africa, EAST <http://www.easttrust.org>*.

Les Prix TIGA sont présentés aux gouvernements africains et aux institutions
du continent engagés dans le développement et la mise en œuvre des TIC pour
les services publics et qui contribuent ainsi au développement de la société
d’information en Afrique.
