Kyle as a new google employee i respect your input but we really can't know how deep these two giants are closely related to each other unless you have certain clearance :) .
But it is good however to know you have a choice to use your own OS when you wish, though from a marketing perspective one would assume it does cut some points when you using a competitors Hardware at a show case then you go a logger heads with each other in public. But well its just my thinking but i could be wrong.
