The Peering Coordinators day is a one-day event capacity building event and a precursor to the main AfPIF event scheduled for August, 2011 in Accra, Ghana. The objective of the peering coordinators day is to develop the technical & business capacity of African Peering managers involved in establishing and implementing peering relationships and agreements. Further, it will also seek to identify the technical challenges as well as the solutions for regional interconnection, including Internet Exchange Points. The event is open and will be of particular interest to Peering Coordinators, Business development Managers, Internet providers and operators, telecommunications regulators, content providers, Internet Exchange Point (IXP) Operators, infrastructure providers, Data Center Managers, National Research and Education Networks, Carriers and Transit providers. The AfNOG 12 and AfriNIC 14 meetings will precede the event - please see www.afnog.org. This is an open call to present at the event on technical issues related to regional Interconnection, Peering and Traffic Exchange. If you are interested in presenting: Please submit proposals online at: http://www.isoc.org/openconf/afpif/ * Submission Deadline is 10th April 2011 * Notification of Acceptance is 18th April 2011 * AfPIF Peering Coordinators Day 10th June 2011 Guidelines: The following topic and presentation areas are under consideration for the event. - Peering and Transit Essentials - Peering Architecture and Technical Requirements - Peering Commercials and Contract negotiations - Traffic Flow Analysis for Large Networks - Content Deployment and Caching Techniques in Africa - Technical Peering Configurations and Best Practices - African Cross-border Interconnection - Regional Carrier Technical Solutions - Internet Exchange Points & Research and Education Networks Best Practices and Updates - Building Carrier Neutral Data Centers Tutorials are usually 1 to 2 hour sessions, while presentations may last between ten (10) and thirty (30) minutes with room for Q&A. The Internet Society will facilitate the necessary logistics. The Internet Society’s staff and a select panel of community experts will make selection decisions.
