I couldn't help but to check out the US-based analytics firm Localytics, whose tool is provided free to the "Community" which they define as "For developers & independent publishers." The analytics tool consists of some really useful metrics that are summarized as a dashboard page (see demo "GPS Walk & Run Tracker" https://dashboard.localytics.com/), and which can be interactively broken down further according to time (upper right), Usage, Engagement, Events, and Maps. I'm not sure how this compares with Google Analytics for Mobile (http://code.google.com/mobile/analytics/), but obviously either tool is an asset to a developer creating a mobile app to monitor the process and progress of getting it out there.
