I couldn't help but to check out the US-based analytics firm
Localytics, whose tool is provided free to the "Community" which they
define as "For developers & independent publishers." The analytics
tool consists of some really useful metrics that are summarized as a
dashboard page (see demo "GPS Walk & Run Tracker"
https://dashboard.localytics.com/), and which can be interactively
broken down further according to time (upper right), Usage,
Engagement, Events, and Maps.

I'm not sure how this compares with Google Analytics for Mobile
(http://code.google.com/mobile/analytics/), but obviously either tool
is an asset to a developer creating a mobile app to monitor the
process and progress of getting it out there.
