Colline,

You need to use sudo before the command so that you can run it as root

Subject: [LUG] apt-get issues

Hi all,
I'm new to Linux, started off with Ubuntu. I tried to install the sun java
jdk using sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jdk. It went on well till the point
where it brought up the licence agreement within the terminal. It stalled
here as failed to select OK to continue. pressing enter or Y was to no
avail. So i restarted the machine but when I try to use apt-get or the
ubuntu software to install java jdk or any other software it gives the
following error:

E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily
unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another
process using it?

I've tried to do an update n upgrade but it still comes back to the same
error. How do I get rid of this error?

Colline
