well, if i got your question right, there are plenty of free and open source tools that can help assist you namely Nagios, Centreon, Zenoss. Ease/difficulty of installation varies depending on your proficiency in Linux and flavor of Linux you intend to use. As for monitoring your websites i.e. like website traffic, visitors etc there you can use phpmyvisites http://www.phpmyvisites.us/ or PIWIK http://piwik.org/ the difference between these tools is the varying degree's of "bells and whistles" supported by each.
