Friends, The X550 are certified to work with Linux. I spoke to Ncomputing Support staff yesterday - and they directed me to the SW download page - where i managed to get the versions of vspace software that run on Linux.
They also told me - and i wonder which world they live in - that they do not have vspace software that runs on yum based distros...'coz Linux uptake has not been that great in their world! Anyhow, once i installed - i got a few registration issues, which i figured were because i have not been duly registered by a reseller, - but i also got a major bug - When i reboot my machine, it says the vspace software runs on the first 10.04 kernel - and my 10.04.3 was incompatible! So basically in order to get the x550 working - i have to insist on 0 kernel updates - and the central computers cannot even update from our local mirror - or atleast have to have updates run manually - until the Ncomputing guys fix this or assure me of a fix - i cant proceed. Its been a major headache getting WYSE to respond to all my emails - yes even the ones that say please send a quote!!! Might need to ask Ncomputing to make the ubuntu version of vspace open source so someone in the community can update it as per LTS kernels - OR - i need to find an open source version thats been documented to work with the X550 terminals. Still in a Fix!
