Motorola invented the cellphone. While I'm not sure what Motorola Mobility's patent portfolio looks like, Google may have just purchased the intellectual property rights to some rather ubiquitous technology. If so, Google now has a rather powerful weapon to use against Apple (and others) in the ongoing patent wars.
