I am running v1.1.6.... And eureka, the modem is seen. I did come across
that link and for some silly reason, I jumped it since it talked about
debian (Yes, I know where Ubuntu came from). I don't know why I skipped it
:-/

Thanks. The modem can be seen. Now to make this permanent.
