Doesn't the latest version of chrome handle flash for itself?

Subject: [LUG] Flash Issue Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit

Ok, having a problem re-installing flash under Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit. I have
tried off the Adobe website, via a PPA and via the Partner repository on
Ubuntu Software Centre. Nada Chrome and Firefox are both reporting Flash as
being out of date and in need of an upgrade. Anyone encountered similar and
got a fix before I start trawling the bug lists?
