Depending upon ones *definition* of provider, you may side with Cavin's
insistent definition or opt to throw it out. As far as providers for the
GPS, Global Positioning Satellite, is concerned (assuming we are looking at
the GPS provider in the same context as one would look at an ISP) there is
only ONE provider, that being the US govt.

As far as satellite positioning systems are concerned there exists,
available to the public, the GPS provided by the USA and the GLONASS
provided by the Russians. The Europeans are working on Galileo. I believe
the Chinese and the Indians are working on their own, which when done, we
shall have 5 satellite positioning systems available to the public.

In the sense of GPS provider, as Cavin has been stressing it, I would think
these are companies that make use of the satellite navigation system to
provide a service to end users, hence the mentioning of GAMIN and others.

That said, it looks like both Cavin and the rest of the contributors to
this email have been correct, depending on the context one looks at 'GPS
provider'

My few cents

Of course, you might discount this possibility, but remember that one in a
million chances happen 99% of the time.
