In any case, Mac OS X and Android is not derived from the same codebase, no
matter how far back one looks. Linux never shared any code with any flavour of
UNIX. Android is derived from Linux, which is *inspired* by (but not sharing
any code with) Minix, which in turn can be traced back to UNIX 6. Mac OS X
(Darwin, that is) is derived from BSD which is an offshoot from UNIX 6. Even if
there was shared code, the common point from which this code would originate is
UNIX 6, which was released in 1976. In short: Android and "Mac" are
derivatives, but not from the same things. They are not related. Not by blood,
at any rate.

Technically, both OSX and BSD are slightly off topic for a Linux User Group.
However, any code released under the BSD licences are re-licensable under GPL,
so BSD is of at least a potential interest. OSX as a distribution isn't. Even
if we widen the topic to FOSS in general, which, frankly, is a good idea since
"Linux User Group" is a bit kernel-biased, OSX still is of no interest since
the source is not only closed, but locked, barred and viciously guarded by
rabid lawyers.

Just my ¢2.

Forget cool, from my perspective it is about whether they are FOSS or not.
Android isish, Mac isn't. End of discussion. IHMO. Both by the way are patent
junkies so loose on that count.
