Simon, Thats so funny...
Anyway, I just returned from IDLELO, wanted to share what FOSSFA is upto, and where that leaves us as a FOSS Community. But also, in 2014, FOSSFA will be wanting to host IDLELO somewhere, and so i just wanted to drop this idea, so that Kampala holds this. For that, we as a COMMUNITY, need to mobilize OURSELVES, Government, Corporates and Academic Institutions and use this chance to drive a huge FOSS wedge into the Ugandan Lifestyle. For that to happen, we start NOW, build bridges and links, and prepare a strong bid - and then do more work to get the sponsorship we need to raise the bar for idlelo attendance (among other things). If a single person attempted this, they would have to lose theer 8-5 job. But as a community, we can. For wanting to get this discussion going, am ready to host LUG, only i must really be fair to you all and to myself, not this week (the hosting part of it)... Brian.
