Robert,
Please see this response from the FOSSFA (Free and Open Source Software
Foundation for Africa - www.fossfa.net ) Members list.

*Am glad you ask this question and like me, realized that there is
something missing in the FOSS literature.*
*This is what FOSSINA and the FOSSDeva survey (
http://servnet.ias.unu.edu/limesurvey/index.php?sid=86668&lang=en) is all
about. Am currently struggling to draft the FOSSDeva preliminary report and
hopefully it will give us better understanding of the African FOSS
landscape, including adoption, usage and demographic trends, motivation or
the lack of it thereof, skill development, education and business
potentials, policy implications, etc...*
*I will circulate the draft to this list for further comments and
suggestions.*
* *
*For the meantime, i did be glad for all to help continue publicizing the
survey so the we have some reasonable numbers to crunch and draw some
empirically sound conclusions.*
* *
*May i add you to the list of people who would like to help review the
FOSSDeva survey report?*
* *
*Sincere regards*

The Author of this, Dr. Sulayman K. Sowe would be very happy to share his
findings with you, as he did sometime back here.

If you would consider joining FOSSFA, you would meet many other
professionals across the continent who share your interest in FOSS across
Africa. Write to [email protected] and you will get information on how to join
FOSSFA.
