There are a whole variety of reasons why Exchange might not be sending,
although it does sound as though you might not be allowed to send via SMTP(25),
which some ISP's block to prevent spamware, hence why they try and force you to
use their relay.

Best way to check is see if you can telnet to a known mail service like google
and connect via port 25.

Hello Guys,

Talking of Zentyal I have installed as a proxy/firewall at a medium sized
network. However trouble is that i have exchange running mail.

Trouble is exchange can not send mail out on its own and when we use smtp relay
(UTL) there is a lag in message delivery.

Am puzzled at this cause i love what zentyal does for me at the moment.

Any Ideas.....

Hi,

If smeserver is what you come from, then you should also take a look at
Zentyal. Zentyal offers email, samba shares, jabber, voip, firewall & proxy and
all from 1 LDAP directory, so your users only have to remember 1 password.

Configure Outlook to use IMAP, install a webmail package of choice and you are
good to go.

Mukalazi - also check out the Wikipedia entry on "Comparison of mail servers".
Could give you a fairly good headstart before you dig deeper.
