Also, is there any special reason you are installing (what looks like 11g EE) 
and on Ubuntu? I can confirm that 11g XE installs just fine on SuSE 12.1 64bit 
from the Oracle-supplied RPM. No massaging required.  For schema and data 
migration purposes you really don't need the full EE I think.

 And, if you have a choice, why MySQL (i.e. one Oracle product to another)? 
This would normally be the point where I praise PostgreSQL, but I'll wait for 
your answer…
