Ultimately my feeling is FOSS wins over proprietary. I see Valve becoming more open source and not Linux becoming less. That was MS fear after all, and has also happened to them. It is not ideal, DRM included but if more people are using Linux then that is a good thing.
I think in 2-5 years we will see a Steameque platform(s) but FOSS, with a combination of FOSS and Non-FOSS Games, and I'd be alright with that. We have desura after all. What is not going to happen is Linux becomes proprietary because of steam. I thought Stallman seems kinda chilled on this issue all things considered. Wonder if he is a secret HL2 player ;-) Simon Vass Managing Director E-Tech Uganda Ltd http://www.etech.ug Tel: +256 (0) 312260620 or (0) 312260621 email: [email protected] skype: e-techservicedesk ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kyle Spencer" <[email protected]> To: "Uganda Linux User Group" <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, 1 August, 2012 10:52:35 AM Subject: Re: [LUG] Valve confirms Linux work, launches blog: Steam'd Penguins Richard Stallman has just commented on this.
