The thing that most people do not seem to be paying attention to is that the 
way companies like Oracle work is very different from the way free-stuff 
software people work. Everything in the Oracle space is highly monetised. 
Revenue and so forth drives everything. (Which is not to say they haven't been 
bloody good technically in some areas.) Now all of a sudden they must support 
all ye freetards, per your rules! There-in, to me, lies the pain. 

 Which is to say, next time you reach for, say, MySQL, pause to consider…
