The only way we were able to block this was using squid (proxy server, any
will do) and redirected them to an intranet page with company policies. We
also logged whose IP address attempted a connection to facebook
(http/https) and authentication credentials, in case you opted to use
someone else's computer. after 1700HRS, facebook and all other social sites
were opened up.

It may also help to have policies that handle any one who goes to facebook
during work hours. Facebook can really mess up productivity of a company...
if you have staff members who cannot control themselves.

For you who is using a linksys router, consider flushing this with DDWRT or
your favourite opensource firmware for your linksys wrt. DDWRT can handle
some aspect of this for you. If cannot do it, then install a desktop and
get pfsense installed and it can do squid for you.

Of course, you might discount this possibility, but remember that one in a
million chances happen 99% of the time.
