That's a common feeling, Simon.
There's a chap called John Kasumba (aka Reilag) who recently made off with
billions of guys' money in some forex scam ponzi scheme thingie...

The details are sketchy, but i know many, many friends who lost serious
money.

Maybe thats another reason which motivates people to try the algorithms
Paul mentioned...

As an aside for those interested in this sort of thing, here's a link to a
mad man (but he's funny!) called Max Keiser talking about "Algo" trading.
http://rt.com/programs/keiser-report/episode-352-max-keiser/comments/

He works for the Russians, so he's biased in the opposite way you are used
to - but he was a successful trader, so he knows his stuff.
If your net is not fast enough, you can catch his show on UBC twice a night
at very ungodly hours.
Dont ask me how i know - Am (mostly) godly... Honest!
