Hi all,

This is a shameless copy of the mail Richard Zulu sent to the Hackers/Hack
mailinglist. For all programmers: we are going to show some very neat stuff on
how to generate HTML code to create maps based on OpenData using OpenLayers.

I hope all is well and fine.

I am writing to inform you about our next Hacks Hackers Meet next week
Saturday, 23rd February 2012 to take place at Outbox<http://www.outbox.co.ug>

For the next session, we are going to be working together with the Open
development Group http://opendev.ug/ in Uganda to hold an event around the
 open data day. http://opendataday.org/

The focus of the next meet-up will be on how Journalists can use Open data
to create and tell really compelling stories. The planned format of the
event is as follows:

a) *Introduction to OpenData*. What is it and what initiatives are in
Uganda?

b)* Story telling using Open Data* - Data Journalism

c)* From Data to diagrams*
    i) Using Spreadsheets to create compelling visualization from Open Data
ii) Demo on how to use open data to create visual maps

d) *Afternoon hacking session (Hands-on)*
Pairing of Journalists with software developers in order to find
interesting stories from Open Datasets.

d) Election of the Executive committee and Board for the Hacks/Hackers
Kampala Chapter.
