I've yet to come across a solution with nothing special on the client side
where I haven't been able to piggy-back on another user's session, so I'll
be following this subject with interest as the same question has occurred
to me.

The "safest" solution I can think of would be WPA2 Enterprise with a RADIUS
backend. The drawback is that the credentials would have to be distributed
off-band (i.e. not over the wireless network itself, but on a piece of
paper or similar), but it would be practically impossible to cheat the
system if implemented correctly.
