Hi,

Sorry for the late response. When we install Ubuntu, we often use this tutorial

http://pingv.com/blog/precisely-drupal-setting-up-ubuntu-12-04-precise-pangolin-lamp-stack-for-your-drupal-7-site

There is also an Ubuntu Drupal page here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Drupal

And the Drupal community itself is always very helpful, they have lots of tutorials (install being one of them):

https://drupal.org/documentation/install

And a lot of ways to find the support you are looking for:
https://drupal.org/support

So, why not start using Drupal today? https://drupal.org/start

To shine a little light over how the Drupal project deals with security, I recommend reading the description of the dedicated Drupal Security team, a group of people who are constantly looking for security loopholes in Drupal and the contributed modules and who coordinate the fixing of these loopholes.

Hello Guys,
Hacked through a third party app or not, Drupal being a web based
application can be compromised in one way or another. Beautiful and
robust as it may be, its vulnerable too full stop.
The real question here is how to try to keep our drupal
installations out of easy hacker targets.

Just for the record, the hack was through a 3d party application
installed on
the server, not by hacking Drupal itself.
