MTN did not do this for me either. It simply shut down the Internet connection (e. g. redirected to their captive portal) when the bundle was depleted. Granted, I never had a bundle *expire* on me, but I can't imagine why this would be handed differently in their code, unless their developers really went out of their way to induce such a bug deliberately, which I doubt.
