Personally, I'm not about setting my child alight because the "stokvel"
I belong to says having not burned your child by the time they turn 10
is seen as a dissent to the group's extra-curricular activity.
What I'm saying is that do what makes you happy. If you are avoiding
Apple products because they don't work for you, fine. But if you are
avoiding them on a philosophy - well, unless someone is paying me to
uphold that philosophy, I wouldn't do it unless it brought me other
non-philosophical benefits.
I am old now, so I embrace all tools that are right for the job:
- Mac for my personal use.
- FreeBSD for my server use.
- Linux for my SDN/NFV use.
- Cisco/Juniper/Arista for my revenue-generating traffic.
- Quagga for my Anycast routing.
- Windows for my home media streaming.
- e.t.c.
Don't paint yourself in a corner if you don't have to. The "stokvel"
won't chuck you from the group because you kept your child alive, as
long as you keep contributing to the credit fund.
Mark.
