Algo que viene ayudando mucho es la alta actividad de los desarrolladores de ArchHurd (una rama de ArchLinux), que con unos pocos meses de trabajo ya tiene gran parte del sistema funcionando e incluso lograron ejecutar Hurd en hardware real y se une al trabaja que ya estaba realizado el equipo de Debian GNU/Hurd. Además están aceptados tres proyectos en el Google Summer of Code 2010 para producir imágenes funcionales del instalador de Debian para Debian GNU/Hurd, corregir problemas de compatibilidad expuestos por los casos de prueba.
