We are using RHEL4 with a 2.6.9 variant (much "older" than 2.6.16). Currently we are using udev on development systems and it seems to work fine. I am curious what you mean when you say that udev fails with a kernel older than 2.6.16...Maybe something we need to be aware of? btw we are using udev-039-10.12
