The other option is to install db4-devel for CENTOS5 (if it isn't already)
and download e2fsprogs-1.40.2-cfs1-0redhat.src.rpm. Then run:
rpmbuild --rebuild e2fsprogs-1.40.2.cfs1-0redhat.src.rpm
and install the resulting RPMs.
