When I first added collectl support for lustre, I simply looked at a bunch of the stat files and focused on those fields that changed during file I/O operations since there is a lot of fields that never seem to do so. On the MDS I only included 4, specifically close, getattr, reint and sync. In revisiting that data I do see some non-zero counters, but also still don't see them changing when I'm doing a lot of I/O. In particular I'm looking at a non-zero value for statfs but no matter what I do it doesn't change! I've created a bunch of files, did an ls on the file system and tried doing a couple of greps. Nothing makes it want to budge! So my questions are what is this actually measuring, why isn't it changing and are there any other fields that might be of interest? -mark
