What is Red Hat linux 9? Red Hat Enterprise Linux is only at "5"
currently with 6 coming shortly, AFAIU.

This is a kernel for RHEL5 and as such, has package requirements that
align with RHEL5. In general you can try to cross-pollinate packages
meant for one distribution to another distribution or you run into these
sorts of dependency issues.

Given that this RH linux 9 is not RHEL, you probably can't use the RHEL5
package and must build your own kernel for Red hat Linux 9. Or, perhaps
it's just simply to use RHEL5 (i.e Centos5 if you wish a free
distribution of the same) and then use the
kernel-2.6.18-164.11.1.el5_lustre.1.8.2.i686.rpm kernel that you desire
on it.
