FYI, I tested the Lustre 1.8 patch that provides support for 2.6.18-308.1.1 and while it does successfully compile the resulting changes in the kernel severely impact the isci (Intel SAS) driver. Romley (new Xeon-E5) systems booting this driver panic during boot, just after switchroot. I will capture the trace and post it, it appears to be the result of patch changes to jbd.
