John, You can rebuild 2.8 against MOFED. 1) Install MOFED version of choice. 2) Pull down the 2.8 Lustre source and configure with '--with-o2ib=/usr/src/ofa_kernel/default'. 3) `make rpms` 4) Install. 5) Profit.
