ENOSYS is “function not implemented”.

Yeah, unfortunately, that’s what you get by leveraging Linux errno values and 
of course Lustre is based on Linux.

Lustre is constructed this way too for interoperability reasons.  That is, we 
need standard error coding between clients and servers.  If the Cray/HPE 
implementation was to return something meaning “this is disabled” then 
3rd-party clients wouldn’t be able to grok it.
