Dear Sterling,
Why not take a small single hand block plane and modify the angle of
the block (or the neck) by the minute amount required to bring the
   assembly to what you require?

   Subject: [LUTE-BUILDER] Lute Kit
     Hi all--
Is the lute-builder list still alive?--Anyway, I recently bought the
8-course lute kit made by the Early Music Shop, and actually I'm
   quite
impressed with the quality. This is the kit with the bowl formed and
the neck angle cut. I plan on upgrading the kit in several areas
including the soundboard, braces and ebony fingerboard. I am at the
point of attaching the neck and I have a question---The supplied bowl
does not lay flat which makes the neck come too far forward. I'm
planning to make a false soundboard to force the bowl into the right
shape. Am I going in the right direction?
