The new release of Macintosh OS X (10.2.3 aka "Panther") which has now been available for an entire 24 hours, supposedly will do Postscript files directly, without the need for Ghostscript or a PS printer. Their viewing application, Preview, (not Acrobat) will open them, print them and convert to PDF if you like. (Actually it has to convert them to pdf to print - the entire OS X printing system is pdf based.) The size of a pdf depends on a lot of things, including how smart the software making the pdf is. The default mechanism in OS X is not particularly smart about noticing when the same bit of image is repeated here and there. I'm probably going to wait 3-4 months because I'm trying to write a commercial grade graphic arts program and it is very hard to do development if the OS keeps changing on you. But perhaps some more progressive apple user can report... ....Bob ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ Replies: (remove the "ZZZZ") Ekko Jennings: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Bob Clair: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
