Better than carbon fiber is Kevlar sandwiched between two very thin =
veneers
of spruce, making it look like a normal lute but sound much louder.
This is very popular these days with classical guitar. It seems that
carbon fiber and Kevlar have taken over the top end guitars. Players =
like
David Russell and John Williams use these kinds of guitars.
I've played a few, and made a few,of these guitars and find they are =
very open and loud
but to my ear have no dynamic range other than volume. Plus they are =
very monotone one volume all the time. One gets bored with
the sound shortly after the honeymoon is over.
Another advantage is if you get shot at during a bad performance =
you can use your lute as a bullet proof vest.
