Dear Arthur, A large cache of music discovered in Germany sounded very intriguing, so I asked Paul Madgwick if he could tell us more about it. This was his answer:
"The Sloane ranger rides again! I do not remember it." It was Paul who told me about the Antiqua facsimile of the Sloane MS (just the introduction - not the music) some years ago. He has considerable investigative skills, which helped him, for example, locate sources of music by Paulus Bucenus. It's a pity he can't remember about this other Stobaeus connection. He used to subscribe to the Lute Net, long before I did, so it is possible that the information he passed on is somewhere in the archives. Best wishes, Stewart McCoy. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Arthur Ness (boston)" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "LUTE NET" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, November 04, 2003 7:12 PM Subject: Sloane 1021 > Paul Madgewick in Munich wrote on one of these lists that a large cache of > Stobaeus's music had been discovered in a German (non-muisc?) archive.
