Dear All, At present I am making fluted-back vihuelas (vihuela acanalada) modelled = on the Belchior Dias, Lisbon 1581 guitar (The Royal College of Music = London), as well as conducting research into constructional features of = early guitars / vihuelas based on surviving instruments and other = relevant historical sources of information (see web page link for more = details below).
I am looking for the more or less complete texts of the Ordinances of = the Guild of violeros of Madrid, 1587 as well as those of the Guild of = vihuela makers of Portugal, 1572. Both of them are briefly mentioned in = J. Romanillos' recent book "The Vihuela de Mano and the Spanish Guitar" = with references to the following sources: Archivo Historico de Protocolos, Madrid, Prot: 863 Liuro dos Regimentos dos officiaes mecanicos ... Ano MDLxxxij, = facsimile, Coimbra, 1926 I wonder if anybody has come across or has access to these sources and = would be extremely grateful if you could share them (or their relevant = fragments) with me. Yours sincerely, Alexander Batov Luthier +44(0)1273 479511 [EMAIL PROTECTED] www.lewesguitarmakers.co.uk/pages/alexander/vihuela2003.html=20 --
