i found the octave tuning on my charango to be intensely irritating as well. it might be alright if you just stick to rhythm and chords but melodies sound like something written for tin can. i tinkered around with the tuning but it still sounded like it didn't fit - no matter what variation. could it be that the octave was instituted more out of necessity than choice? - bill
