..and, as is often mentioned in this discussion, the Jacquemart-Andre piece doesn't appear to have been built with the intent for it to serve as a functional musical instrument. Thus, its practicality as a prototype is pretty limited. As far as I'm concerned, any modern-built vihuela remains more speculation than reproduction. That's OK; I have a rather coarsely made speculative vihuela, and I call it great fun.
