I cannot imagine this, because he suggests to put the little finger on the place,
where the lower end of the bridge makes a little curve. It would be hard to get
the fingers to an attack point in the middle between bridge and rose from there..?
So I think (also shown in the engraving) that he recommends playing close to the 
bridge.
