Hi all and especially Arto, I will have to perform a small christmas recital this weekend and finally got the scores (I'm a bit annoyed because they seem to think it would be as easy to play as for a harpsichord with it's written out continuo part). There is some nice music by Rosenberger for Soprano and B.C. as well as by Buxtehude (2 sopranos though), Schuetz and a certain Petit (which is tempting to consider the same person biting in Weiss's thumb - because it was a monk composing this - BTW very charming - music it's also tempting to asume that after this infamous act he went to the monestary :-)). Regarding Arto's request I think it would be a good idea to look at Schuetz - and because Arto is a well known admirer of Monteverdi - a look at Monteverdi's sacred works could be a good idea, too. Among the easy range: In germany we have the "Quempas" collection of popular christmas tunes in different settings: For choir, voice and piano, voice and guitar etc. It provides a good basis for own arrangements and should be easily available.
