I often travel with a theorbo. The ONLY way to do it is to build a = shipping=20 crate to put the lute case in. I use 1 inch thick insulating foam, so = the=20 case weighs practically nothing. I used the same foam case to ship the=20 theorbo from China-Canada-Germany-USA. I had no place to store the foam = case=20 while I was living in a dormitory in the US, so I threw it away. When I = took=20 a trip to Canada without the foam "case case" the theorbo neck was = damaged,=20 and is now on its way to be repaired. In a new foam case! A very = expensive=20 lesson.
