I always do as soon as I am out of my petri-dish and come into the real 
world. I check frets against cembalos, organs and other lutes. Agains 
tuners, too. It's the only way to make really sure. All the rulers are fine 
to get an aproximate fretting, but not more than that.

Enjoy your new 10-course. I have mine since last year, and it's still 
growing.
