Dear List Readers: I am writing to remind yoo this coming weekend I will be directing a concert version of Sebastian Duron's baroque zarzuela "Salir el Amor del mundo," (Cupid's Final Folly - 1696) at the Aston Magna Music Festival (one of America's premiere baroque music festivals). I have created a new performing edition of this work (complete with supertitles) that will be published next year by King's Music (UK), the most important publisher of baroque operas.
The concerts are this Friday (8 pm) at Bard College in upstate New York and Saturday (5pm) at Simon's Rock in Great Barrington, MA. You can go to: Aston Magna for more information. This is a unique opportunity to hear this piece in a concert version featuring some wonderful singers (Jennifer Ellis, Deborah Rentz-Moore, Nancy Armstrong, Roberta Anderson, Laurie Monahan) and a baroque chamber orchestra with Daniel Stepner as concertmaster (myself on baroque guitar & theorbo...and Paul Shipper on baroque guitar & percussion). The program will also feature a collection of Latin American villancicos, from my group El Mundo's latest release on Koch International (Villancicos y Cantadas.) That's all for now. Take Care, Richard Savino -- To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html
