Hello, all! I have read several times here and there that there were quite a few Renaissance treatises on the art of playing "divisions" or variations on a "ground" or theme. The only one I have been able to locate, however, is Christopher Simpson's "The Division-Violist, or, An Introduction to the Playing upon a Ground." If anyone can recommend others to me, whether in English or not, I would be very appreciative.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. Stephen Arndt -- To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html
