Dear lutenists,

some time ago here was the idea of trying the gallichon music by
a normal, at least 7 course lute in renaissance tuning - just by
forgetting the highest string and reading directly the gallichon
tabulature. Just occured in mind: why not do the same to the
baroque guitar music: just forget the highest string f the lute
and play the 5 course guitar tabulature! Of course it is different,
but but anyhow possible. And when I went through some de Visee and
Sanz pieces playing my 6 course lute with 3 basses having octave
strins, I even could try to imitate also the re-entrant tuning(s)
of baroque guitar - and kind of had an octave also in "guitars 3rd
course". So why not try? I think some "puntaedo" music could actually
work well by lute - at least better than by a modern guitar. And by
the way, the lute's high string could help you avoid some high
positions of baroque guitar... :-)

All the best,

Arto
