Dear Steve,

when we rehearsed the ensemble version two years ago, we (or I) decided 
it would be better not to try to keep track with this highly dramatic and 
colourful piece on an 8 course. Continuo style wouldn't work and 
intabulation even less. So I stuck to the monodic stuff and the 16th century 
polyphony in our concert. It was quite hard for the singers to keep the 
intonation, but after all that's what a singer has to learn. The performance 
was nicely dark-coloured and flexible without the "pling-pling"...
